3G Auction will start from Feb 25th and government is expecting Rs. 30K crores from the auction. Spectrum would be allotted in the first week of August and successful bidders would have to make a payment upfront within 15 days of winning 3G licence. – source

DoT is also likely to impose a ban on M&A between 3G auction winners.

Bharti partners with Limelight networks

Bharti has partnered with Limelight networks for CDN (Content Delivery Network) services in India. The CDN market in India is expected to grow to $100mn by 2014.[source]

Batelco plans to increase stake in S Tel to 49%

Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) plans to increase its stake in S Tel to 49%.

At present, the Siva group holds 57.3 % in the JV and Batelco 42.7%. Siva Group’s stake will now come down to 51%. With the acquisition of 11% more stake in S Tel, Batelco’s total investment in the telco will go up to $225 million. – source
